PITTSBURGH, Penn. – The SMWC Women's Basketball team moved to 10-4 on the season and 4-3 in the RSC with a victory over Carlow University yesterday 77-60. The Pomeroys would go back and forth until a 10-0 run to start the 2
nd quarter would give them the lead for good. The victory puts SMWC in fourth in the RSC West and seventh in the conference as the team prepares for a tough schedule going forward.
By the Numbers
- Allyson Hardiek once again led the team in scoring with 14 while also securing 9 rebounds and committing zero personal fouls. She was followed in scoring with Aliyah Williams with 13 and Brooklyn Jones with 12.
- Hardiek was the leading rebounder again with Jones and Savannah Frye also pulling down six apiece.
- The team shot 45.5% on the night and 5-15 from behind the arc. A tough night at line still as the Pomeroys would go 12-21.
- The Pomeroys improved their turnover ratio as the team only committed 18 after averaging almost 27 over their previous three contests.
- SMWC held the Celtics to just 32.1% shooting on the night, taking the lead in the first quarter and holding on.
Next Up
Both the men's and women's teams will face Point Park University this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the women and 3:00 p.m. for the men.
