Defense At A Premium As Pomeroys Travel To Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in a defensive slug fest at NCAA Division III opponent Rose-Hulman in a Tuesday night non-conference game.

The Pomeroys fall to 2-7 on the season while Rose-Hulman improves to 3-4-2.

Carson Manes provided the only scoring in the contest with a goal in the 64th minute to give RHIT a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

SMWC amassed seven shots in the contest including three of which were on frame. Jamie Gayol led the way with a pair of shots, both of which were on goal.

Harry Jackson played the first 57 minutes in goal for the Pomeroys with three saves while Riley Corona gave up the lone goal in the contest.

The Pomeroys owned a 6-5 edge in corner kicks in the contest while shots on goal were level at 3.

SMWC returns to action on Thursday, October 3 when they travel to Rio Grande (Ohio) for a River States Conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. (ET).
