Pomeroy Women's Cross Country Finishes 14th At NCAA Division III Pre Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team earned a 14th place team finish at the NCAA Division III Pre Nationals which was held on Friday night (Oct. 4) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

The Pomeroys were credited with 398 points to finish 14th which was ahead of Anderson (Ind.) and Webster. The University of Chicago won the event with 33 points just ahead of Washington (Mo.) who were edged out with 34 points.

Quinlan Teague paced the SMWC cagers as she finished in 75th place as she covered the 6K course in 26:35.88. Brinlee McCloud was just outside the Top 100 as she finished 110th with a time of 28:01.11.

Deborah Murphy covered the course in a time of 28:29.98 which was good enough for a 123rd place finish. Gwen Garman enjoyed a strong race and finished in 126th place against a talented field with a time of 28:42.63.

Clara Westcott posted a time of 30:09.27 to finish in 146th place which was just ahead of Emma Lynch who earned a time of 30:21.61 which was 147th. Katelynn Braun finished in 149th place with a time of 30:23.32.

The Pomeroys will return to action on Friday, October 18 when they make the short drive to Evansville, Ind., to take on the field at the Angel Mounds Invitational. This event will serve as a preview for the River States Conference Championship on November 9 at the same course.
