Men's Soccer Settles for Draw with St. Francis 1-1

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's soccer team (0-0-1) settled for a tie with the University of St. Francis (IN) (0-1-1) this afternoon as both teams fought back and forth all game, with the match coming down to the very last second. The match was chippy at times, with multiple yellow cards shown, as both teams fought to pull out a win.

How it happened
1st Half: Both teams got off to a slow start to open up the game, with only a combined 4 shots taken by both teams in the first half, and the game would remain scoreless at the half.
 
2nd Half: The Pomeroys came out firing as Hamza Zagmouzi quickly opened up the scoring off of a penalty kick (49'). The Pomeroys were in control for most of the second half, until St. Francis' Marco Marclay added a goal late in the second half (80').
 
OT/2OT: Overtime saw a lot of action and fatigue was clear for both teams, but neither could pull out the win and would have to settle for a tie.

What's Next?
The men's soccer team will look to pick up their first victory of the season when they travel to take on the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis next Saturday, September 4th. The first kick is at 4:00 p.m. ET.
