SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – The SMWC Men's Basketball team (2-19, 0-11) battled West Virginia University Institute of Technology (18-4, 9-2) Saturday afternoon, but despite the team's fight couldn't keep up in the 2nd half and would fall 49-78. Elkin Ramirez had a strong showing, posting 16 points while shooting just under 50% from beyond the arc. The team continues to search for it's first RSC win in their inaugural season.
Game Summary
1st Half: The team fought hard right out of the gate, answering each blow that WVU Tech would throw at them, and would find themselves within 2 points of the lead midway through the first half. The Pomeroys briefly held the lead at 30-28 after three pointers from Elkin Ramirez, but WVU Tech would take a 36-34 lead into halftime.
2nd Half: The Pomeroys came out of the break and were met with stifling defense from WVU Tech, struggling to get good looks and along with some turnovers allowed WVU Tech to run away with a 78-49 win.
