Pomeroys fall to Oakland City on the road 70-50

Box Score The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's basketball team suffered a second straight conference lose at the Johnson Center against Oakland City, falling 70-50 to the host Mighty Oaks.
The Pomeroys (6-3, 1-3) were looking to get back to .500 play in conference as they took on NAIA National Ranking vote getters Oakland City.
The Pomeroys started out well against the Mighty Oaks leading 20-19 after the first quarter thanks to an Avalee Jeffers buzzer beating three-pointer. She would finish with 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Pomeroys in scoring.
The Mighty Oaks would respond out scoring the Pomeroys 14-5 in the second quarter and 21-9 in the third quarter. Brooklyn Jones was also in double digits for points with 12 and collected eight rebounds. Abby Worley finished with nine points, five rebounds and three assists.
Junior Allyson Hardiek finished with a season-high five blocks.
This loss drops the Pomeroys record to 6-3 overall and 1-3 in RSC play. Their next game will be on Friday Dec. 16 at Miami OH (Middletown) with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.
