SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - The Pomeroys continue their hunt for an NAIA River States Conference bid as they continue to face top level talent. Going 3-1 this past week facing Carlow and Point Park, SMWC now stand at 20-8 (13-3) for the season. While competing against top level talent across the nation, SMWC is now ranked in 1
st place in the RSC West Division. Their success comes from numerous contributing players while being led by
Camryn Scott (.469 BA) and
Summer Rocha (12-2, 1.61 ERA).
How it Happened...
vs. Carlow University: The Pomeroys swept Carlow on April 9
th winning game one 9-6 and game two 8-2. After being down early in the game, the Pomeroy bats got hot, and runners began to advance swiftly while doing what SMWC has done best all season—stealing bases. Within the double header, The Woods had a total of 15 stolen bases and have 108 total through 28 games.
Graycee Ansari tossed the first four innings and
Gracie Ables snatched the first win of the day, and the offense was led by
Camryn Scott (3-4, 2 runs, 3 stolen bases) and
Ashley Shanks (2-2, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB). Game 2 was another stellar performance by
Summer Rocha (7 IP, 1 ER, 3 K) earning her 11
th win of the year. Behind steady offense, the Pomeroys came out hot and could not be stopped through all 7 innings. Again, the Pomeroys were led by
Ashley Shanks (2-3, 2 RBI) as well as Riley Bennett (2-3, 3 RBI, 1 run).

vs. Point Park University: On day 2 of the weekend homestead SMWC faced tough opponent Point Park going 1-1 on the day. In their first loss in 7 games, The Woods ran out of outs in the bottom of the 7
th inning losing a tough match-up 3-2.
Graycee Ansari threw another strong 7 innings, only giving up 2 earned runs. Offensively, the Poms were led by
Jilliann Reese (2-2, 1 run, 1 SB), as well as
Ashley Shanks (2-3, 1 RBI). In game 2, the Pomeroys came in with a chip on their shoulder edging Point Park 4-2.Â
Summer Rocha was on the rubber and did what she did best leading the day with 7 innings pitched, 7 strikeouts and earning her 12
th win. Numerous Pomeroys tallied hits this game but were led by
Camryn Scott (2-2, 1 BB, 2 runs, 1 SB), and Tori Lee (2-3, 1 RBI, 1 SB).

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Softball is back in action this Friday, April 15
th, going toe-to-toe with IU-Southeast in New Albany. SMWC will continue their search for an RSC bid as well as a chance to compete for a National Title throughout the rest of this season. The Pomeroys hold a 20-8 record and are looking to compete for the programs first RSC championship in the near future.Â
