Ina Grbic had three of her six kills in the fifth set and
Raymiah Allen had three kills in the fifth to help spark SMWC to a 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 15-10 victory at West Virginia University Tech.
The .500 attack percentage in the fifth set was the second straight match the Pomeroys put together an outstanding fifth set, a testament to the team's strong depth.
The Pomeroys (26-3) matched last season's school record for wins and picked up a key win against a team that was ahead of it in the River States Conference going into the weekend.
Freshman
Karla Melendez led the attack with 14 kills, setting a career-high.
Masa Pesic added 11 kills and
Alex Hernandez 10, while
Morgan Krause chipped in five killls on just eight attacks.
Alexis Keoho had 23 assists and
Ariana Cruz added 20 assists to go with 11 digs.
Jocelyn Chavez had 34 digs, while leading the team with three aces.
