Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (13-8, 3-2 River States Conference) pounded out six extra-base hits in a 14-8 victory at Rio Grande before falling 2-1 in the second half of a doubleheader.
Game 1
Lyric Krause led the Pomeroys, going 3 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and 5 RBIs.
Camryn Scott went 3 for 3 with four runs and four stolen bases.
The Red Storm, the reigning RSC East Division champions, saw the Pomeroys jump out with five runs in the top of the first inning.
Krause and
Jaleigh Crawford had two-run doubles in the inning.
Krause put three more runs on the board in the second inning with a three-run homer to drive in Scott and
Jaselyn Conn.
Rio Grande had answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, and the Red Storm stayed close with single runs in the second and third.
Jasmine Kinzer added a two-run single in the sixth.
