SMWC SB sweep OCU

Scott sets new program record in stolen bases in DH sweep of Ohio Christian

| By:
Box Score The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Pomeroys welcomed the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian for a double header Friday afternoon. The Pomeroys would sweep both games winning game one 5-4 and would run rule the Trailblazers in game two, winning 8-0 in six innings. It was also senior day as the Pomeroys honored Adyson Baber and Jordyn Rice pregame.
Camryn Scott stole second base in the fourth inning of game one, her 42nd of the season, and that would set the program recording in a single season for stolen bases, breaking her own total of 41 last season. She would go on to steal two bases in game two, increasing her season total to 44.
Lanna Martinez got the start in the circle for game one and held the Trailblazers in check through the first three innings before they scored three runs in the fourth off of an RBI single and a two-run homerun. Pomeroys responded in the bottom of the fourth with a two RBI double by Lyric Krause.
Tori Lee hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to give the Pomeroys a 4-3 lead but was short lived as a solo homerun in the top of the seventh tied it at 4 each.
The Pomeroys started the bottom of the seventh with a lead off double by Jaselyn Conn and then a single by Rylee Pender to put runners on first and second. After Katrina Strow lined out to third, Scott came up with two runners on and one out. Conn and Pender would both steal a base before Scott hit a fly ball into right field and Conn would score on the walk-off sacrifice fly.
Summer Rocha would get the start for game two and would only allow five hits and gave up no runs. That would be more than enough for the Pomeroys as Jaleigh Crawford had five RBIs in game two, highlighted by a three-run homerun in the second inning. Scott had a two RBI single in the second and Lee hit a solo homerun in the fourth. Crawford's RBI double in the sixth gave the Pomeroys the run rule victory for game two.
Martinez (12-4) and Rocha (9-7) each got wins as the Pomeroys improve to 29-13 overall and 15-7 in RSC play. They return to action on Tuesday April 25 as they welcome Oakland City to the SMWC Softball Field for the final home DH of the season.
