LIMA, OHIO -- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods dominated Friday in women's volleyball action, taking 3-0 victories against Defiance College and Northwestern Ohio University.
Senior
Hannah Zuege had a team-high 16 kills in the two matches combined, and
Zula DeJesus had eight service aces to lead the Pomeroys' attack.
In the opening match against Defiance, SMWC cruised to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 victory.
Karla Melendez and Nina Grbic led the way with seven kills apiece, while Zuege added five as the Pomeroys posted a .347 hitting percentage.
DeJesus paced SMWC with four of the team's 10 service aces.
Alexis Keoho had a team-high 13 assists, and Melendez had seven digs to lead the defense.
SMWC won 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 against Northwestern Ohio. Zuege led the offense with 11 kills, while freshman
Masa Pesic added eight and
Tori Schopmeyer seven.
Alex Hernandez and
Raymiah Allen had four blocks apiece, and
Jocelyn Chavez had a team-high 12 digs.
Freshman
Lillian Breaux had 18 assists for SMWC, while
Ariana Cruz chipped in 13.
