SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of sweeps over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) and Georgetown (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 12) inside the Knoerle Center.
The Pomeroys improved to 25-3, 3-3 RSC with the two victories.
In the opener, SMWC earned set wins by the scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 25-17 over Alice Lloyd.
Isabel Hansen and
Karla Melendez each led the team with eight kills as Hansen recorded an attack percentage of .727 and Melendez posted a mark of .500 and the Pomeroys recorded a .309 average as a team. SMWC had nine service aces in the win, including a team-best four from
Leishmarie Virella.
Hansen posted five total blocks in the win as the Pomeroys had 13 total as a team. Aiden Britt and Virella each posted seven digs in the contest while Melendez owned six.
In the day's second game, the Pomeroys recorded a 3-0 sweep over Georgetown by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-20.
Grace Geisler tallied nine kills in the match and an attack percentage of .333. Britt led the way with 11 set assists while
Alexis Keoho pitched in with eight.
Jocelyn Chavez had 14 of the team's 56 digs in the contest.
Once again, SMWC was credited with nine service aces led by three from
Audrey Lee. Geisler and Virella each also had two in the contest.
SMWC returns to action on Friday, October 18 when they travel to Midway (Ky.) for a River States Conference matchup. First serve is set for 7 pm (ET).
