SMWC Women's Soccer Notches RSC Victory Over IU-Columbus

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team enjoyed a great afternoon with a 4-0 victory over visiting IU-Columbus on Thursday (Oct. 17) at the SMWC Soccer Complex.

The Pomeroys improved to 2-8-2, 1-3 RSC while IU-Columbus dropped to 2-9-1, 0-6 RSC.

Carley Balas got SMWC on the board in the 24th minute when she found the back of the net off the assist from Chloe Field for the early 1-0 advantage. Kennedy Trigg came right back with a goal in the 26th minute and The Woods owned a 2-0 lead at the half.

Raelee Everhart scored in the 55th minute to stretch the advantage out to 3-0 off the assist from Abbi Scott and Lois Carr converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute for the 4-0 victory.

Dree Wilson secured the victory in goal for the Pomeroys as she kept a clean sheet and tallied four saves in the win.

SMWC owned an 18-9 advantage in shots in the contest paced by Everhart who took five swings in the contest -- three of which came on goal. All told it was an 11-4 edge in shots on goal in the contest. Kennedy Trigg owned four shots in the contest and three of them were on frame. Carr was credited with three swings at the net with two of them on goal.

The Woods on the offensive attack enjoyed a 4-3 edge in corner kicks in the contest.

SMWC is right back at it in River States Conference play on Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. (ET) when they host Midway (Ky.). The game will be held at the SMWC Soccer Complex.
