NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- It was a quick turnaround for the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19) and despite big offensive efforts from
Grace Geisler and
Karla Melendez the Pomeroys fell on the road to IU-Southeast by the score of 3-1 in River States Conference action.
SMWC fell to 26-4, 5-4 RSC while IU-Southeast improved to 8-15, 6-5 RSC. SMWC split the weekend roadtrip after winning at Midway (Ky.) on Friday night.
Geisler led the offensive attack with 16 kills while Melendez was credited with 14. Geisler also added four service aces in the contest. While Geisler also had two blocks at the net,
Isabel Hansen paced the Pomeroys with four total blocks.
Alexis Keoho posted 18 set assists in the game while
Aden Britt tallied 13.
Jocelyn Chavez tallied 19 digs.
IU-Southeast took the opening set 25-21 before SMWC came back to win the second 25-16. IU-Southeast came back to win the final two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22.
SMWC returns home to face off against Brescia (Ky.) on Tuesday, October 22 at 5 p.m. (ET) inside the Knoerle Center.
