SMWC Volleyball Picks Up Road Sweep At Oakland City

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team picked up a road River States Conference sweep over Oakland City (Ind.) on Tuesday night (Oct. 29).

SMWC improved to 29-5, 8-5 RSC while Oakland City fell to 9-19, 3-10 RSC. The Pomeroys also defeated the Mighty Oaks at home earlier in the season to complete the regular season sweep.

Lisanel Rodriguez posted 10 kills in the contest against just one error for a sparking attack percentage of .391. Karla Melendez tallied six kills in the contest.

Aden Britt led the way for the Pomeroys with 17 set assists while Alexis Keoho, Leishmarie Virella, Kanon Miyaki and Alondra Garcia posted service aces. The reigning River States Conference Defensive Player of the Week tallied 18 digs in the win. Isabel Hansen posted five total blocks at the net.

SMWC won the opening set 25-16 and came back to win the second set by the score of 25-17. They finished out the match with a 25-18 victory in set three. After a Pomeroy timeout late in the third set, SMWC closed it out with a kill from Hansen and a Mighty Oaks attack error.

The Pomeroys return home to face off against IU-Columbus on Friday, November 1 at 7 pm (ET) inside the Knoerle Center. This game is the annual "Blue Out" and all SMWC supporters are encouraged to wear blue to the match.
