Men's Soccer Falls On The Road To Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Rio Grande (Ohio) on Thursday (Oct. 3) on the road in River States Conference action.

The Pomeroys fell to 2-8, 0-2 RSC while Rio Grande improved to 3-4-1, 2-0 RSC.

Jamie Gayol opened the scoring in the match when he found the back of the net in the 25th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Rio Grande did all of their damage in the final 10 minutes as they scored in the 80th, 83rd and 85th minutes to take the 3-1 decision.

Emile Jamois was credited with the assist on the Gayol goal. It was Gayol's second goal of the season and Jamois' second assist of the season. Harry Jackson posted six saves in the contest. 

SMWC returns to action on Wednesday, October 9 when they travel to Cumberland (Tenn.). Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. (ET).
