CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team got their feet wet for the upcoming college basketball season on Wednesday (Oct. 30) afternoon as they took on NCAA Division I foe Austin Peay on the road in and exhibition contest for both teams. SMWC hung around early but ultimately decided to rest the starters for the majority of the game in preparation for the season opener coming up on Friday. APSU defeated the Pomeroys by the score of 83-38.

Brooklynn Jones -- a preseason All-River States Conference selection -- played 18 minutes in the exhibition and scored eight points hitting 4-of-5 shots from the field. Irye Gomez and Samara Douglas each scored five points as well for the Pomeroys.

Madison White and Destiny Thomas each hauled in a trio of rebounds as the Pomeroys brought down 22 caroms in the contest. Thomas also led the way with a pair of assists.

The season opener is set for Friday, November 1 as the Pomeroys are scheduled to travel to Judson University for the season opener in Elgin, Ill., for a 5 pm (CT) tipoff. They also travel to the University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday, November 2 for a 1 pm (CT) tipoff in Joilet, Ill.
