ELGIN, Ill -- Leading by just two points on the road against Judson (Ill.) at the halftime break, the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team ran away with the contest in the second half in earning an 82-55 victory.
SMWC improved to 1-0 on the season while Judson fell to 0-1. The Pomeroys will stay on the road and face the University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday, November 2 at 1 pm (CT) in Joilet, Ill.
Diamond Bryant went 5-of-11 from the field and connected on a pair of 3-pointers to lead the team with 18 points scored. She added five rebounds and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Abby Worley came off the bench to score 10 points in the victory.
The Pomeroys held Judson to just 31 percent shooting from the field in the game.
Madison White posted three blocked shots while
Samara Douglas led the way with a trio of steals. Douglas also pulled down six rebounds in the winning effort.Â
SMWC enjoyed a 50 percent shooting effort on the night (29-of-58). After missing each of their first five attempts from long range in the first quarter, the Pomeroys posted a 5-of-7 mark in the fourth stanza and were 7-of-18 in the game.Â
