The SMWC men's basketball team fought off a tough effort from Midway on Saturday on Senior Day, but the Pomeroys showed to be their dominant selves in the second half on their way to a 90-66 victory.
SMWC (21-5, 15-1 River States Conference) won its seventh straight and improved to 11-1 at home.
The Pomeroys used a 22-3 run to start the second half to take command. SMWC held the visiting Eagles to three points over a span of 7 minutes, 7 seconds.
Chaz Birchfield had seven of his 13 points during that stretch of excellence. Senior
Tarik Dixon hit two of his five 3-pointers during the run, finishing with 19 points. Dixon shot 5 of 11 from 3-point range, tyring his season high for made 3-pointers.
Cobie Barnes poured in 24 points to pace the Pomeroys.

Greg Jenkins put up a monster game with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists, hitting 7 of 9 from the field.

Shon Tupuola grabbed 11 rebounds, helping the Pomeroys dominate 42-19 on the glass.
SMWC allowed just one offensive rebound.
Midway shot exactly 50 percent in both halves, hitting 13 of 26 in the first half and 11 of 22 in the second half.
The Pomeroys were an efficient 20 of 35 (57 percent) in the second half.
