GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- No. 13 ranked Cornerstone University improved to 9-0 on the men's volleyball season with 3-set wins over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, Cornerstone opened the weekend with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 win. Â
Marko Zolnjan led Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with 12 kills, and
Andrej Lindner added six kills.Â
Connor Orrock had a team-high nine assists, with
Jacob Wisniewski contributing eight assists.
Brycen Yadao had a team-high four digs, and
Joseph Szadorski had two blocks for SMWC. Hubert Sliwinski led a balanced Cornerstone attack with eight kills and four blocks, and Patrick Voloch added 25 assists and seven digs for the victors.
On Saturday, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods showed strength in the middle set before falling 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.Â
Bentley Meyer had a team-high 10 kills, and Orrock contributed 19 assists.Â
Christian Green recorded six digs, and
Yammiel Martinez added two blocks for the Pomeroys.
Cornerstone improved to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference play, while Saint Mary-of-the-Woods dropped to 7-4 and 2-2 in league matches. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods returns to action with two matches at Talladega on Monday, along with two matches at Morehouse on Tuesday.
