Pomeroys Tripped Up by Lady Bearcats

Box Score

CLINTON, Ind. – Despite outscoring the visiting Lady Bearcats of Brescia University by five in the second half, it wasn't enough in a 100-90 defeat on Wednesday night.

Brescia (3-13) would score the opening bucket of the game, but the game was back and forth early with four different lead changes.  Midway through the first half, the Pomeroys would take their last lead of the game with a three-pointer by Hailee Rittinger to put SMWC up 28-27.  Brescia would respond, going on a 15-2 run of their own and went into the half with a 15 point halftime lead.

In the second half, Brescia would continue to maintain its double digit lead and kept the Pomeroys from making a comeback to the tie the game.  The closest the Pomeroys would get was within eight points with the score at 61-53.

The story of the game was the performance of Brescia's Julie Whitfill.  She scored a game-high 36 points, shooting 7-of-16 from three-point range.  In addition, three Lady Bearcats had double-double performances.  Olivia Moore (12 pts., 12 reb.), Evelyn Turner (18 pts., 10 reb.), and Lauren Rodgers (17 pts., 13 reb.) had strong games for Brescia.
