SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the Woods College basketball team fell in their rematch with IU-Southeast on Saturday, 94-73, in Hamilton Arena.

Juniors Grace Ziegler and Shelby Parmer carried SMWC's offense with 27 and 17 points, respectively. Ziegler's 27 points were a season-high, while S. Parmer led SMWC in rebounds with six boards. S. Parmer also led SWC in assists with four and steals with four. 

The Pomeroys jumped out to a fast start with S. Parmer making three of the first four shots. Both teams battled back and forth for the first 12 minutes. Then with 8:01 on the clock, an IU-Southeast layup broke a 26-26 tie and moved the Grenadiers into the lead, 28-26. From that point on, the Grenadiers never trailed the Pomeroys. IU-Southeast then went on a 19-2 run to take a 45-28 lead with 2:24 on clock. The Pomeroys came back with a 7-4 run to close out the half and go into the break trailing 49-35.

In the second half, the Grenadiers came out where they left off and never relinquished their double-digit lead to take home the 94-73 victory. The Pomeroys finished the game shooting 38 percent (30-of-80) from the field, 37 percent (11-of-30) from 3-point range and 67 percent (2-of-3) from the free throw line. In comparison, the Grenadiers shot 54 percent (42-of-78), 19 percent (3-of-16) and 64 percent (7-of-11).

The Pomeroys will be back in action on Jan. 3 when they head to Owensboro, Ky., to face Brescia in a rematch from Dec. 18.
