Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team fell to Rose-Hulman on Friday night in the annual Clabber Girl Classic. The Pomeroys 104-84 loss to the Fightin' Engineers moves SMWC to 5-6 on the year. The Clabber Girl series now sits at 13-9 in favor of the Pomeroys.
SMWC had two players go for double figures on Friday in Hulbert Arena. Junior Mikayla Kinneer led the way with a season-high 15 points, while freshman Callan Taylor added 14 points. Senior Sierra Lopez and sophomore Jordyn Lloyd each pitched in eight points, while Lopez led SMWC on the glass with a team-high four rebounds. Sophomore Tara Parmer led the Pomeroys in assists and steals with four and five, respectively.
SMWC was outscored 27-16 in the first quarter before turning it up in the second quarter with 24 points to Rose-Hulman's 27. At the break SMWC trailed 51-40, but with SMWC's ability to score in bunches, the Pomeroys remained within striking distance heading into the second half. The third quarter saw SMWC outscored 23-21, and the fourth saw the Pomeroys outscored 27-23 to hand SMWC the 104-84 loss.
The Pomeroys continued their trend of winning the turnover battle, as they forced Rose-Hulman to turn the ball over 33 times, and the rebounding battle was won by the Fightin' Engineers, 58-27.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on January 22 when they head to Lindsey Wilson for a 2 p.m. start.
