Box Score SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College basketball team fell in their season opener against Brescia, 130-95.
The Pomeroys were led in scoring by sophomore Callan Taylor's 22 points. Taylor was one of four Pomeroys in double figures, as senior Ja'Breena Gardner scored 17 points, junior Tara Parmer notched 16 and senior Na-Shaunda Rayford recorded 10 points. Parmer started off the season with a double-double as she grabbed 10 rebounds to go with her 16 points.
The Pomeroys scoring efforts were consistent throughout the game with 22 points in the first quarter, 25 in the second, 23 in the third and 25 in the fourth. The Pomeroys showed bursts of scoring in their up tempo system, but couldn't stop the Bearcats offensive attack, as BU finished with seven players in double figures.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on November 4 and 5 when they head to Southern State to play Wright State – Lake Campus and Kentucky Christian.
