Parmer Dominates, #PomeroyWBB Beats Blackburn 111-87

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team defeated Blackburn on Tuesday night, 111-87, to improve to 2-3 on the year.

Junior Tara Parmer again was a dominating force in SMWC's second win of the season. Parmer recorded 30 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the year. Sophomore Callan Taylor recorded 21 points, while freshman Ke'Chell Tate added 19 and senior Na-Shaunda Rayford recorded 14. Rounding out the box score for SMWC was senior Ja'Breena Gardner with 10 points.

Defensively, the Pomeroys forced 38 turnovers on their way to victory. SMWC outscored BC 28-18 in the first quarter and then slowed down to tie with BC in second, 20-20. SMWC headed into the break with a 10 point lead, 48-38. In the second half, SMWC outscored BC, 32-23, in the third and 31-26 in the fourth to earn the 111-87 win.

The Pomeroys will now prepare for the Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic vs. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic will tip at 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 in Hamilton Arena.
