Box Score SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team fell to Berea on Saturday, 113-89. The Pomeroys now sit at 2-5 after the loss to the USCAA's seventh ranked team.
Leading four Pomeroys in double figures was junior Tara Parmer with 16 points. Freshman Ke'Chell Tate scored 15 points, sophomore Callan Taylor recorded 14 points and senior Na-Shaunda Rayford added 13 points. Senior Ja'Breena Gardner recorded a team-high five assists and recorded 5 steals.
The Pomeroys found themselves in an early hole after falling behind 25-15 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, SMWC picked up the pace and shot 44 percent (10-of-23) from the field and 57 percent (4-of-7) from three-point range. The Pomeroys scored 29 second quarter points to go into halftime trailing Berea, 58-44. The third quarter again went to Berea, as they outscored SMWC 27-19. With SMWC trailing 85-63 heading into the fourth, the Pomeroys gave it one more run and scored 26 points compared to Berea's 28 before falling 113-89.
The loss makes the Pomeroys 1-1 against the USCAA this season. SMWC will be back in action on December 14 when they host Spalding at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Arena.
