Box Score BATAVIA, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team fell to Cincinnati Clermont on Thursday, 89-75. The Pomeroys are now 5-10 on the year.
The highlight of the night was senior Ja'Breena Gardner climbing over the 1,000 point mark for her career. Gardner entered the game needing 12 points to get 1,000, and she finished with 14 for the Pomeroys. Gardner is the 10th Pomeroy in program history to reach the 1,000 mark. Junior Tara Parmer was a dominating force with her fifth double-double of the season via 18 points and 16 rebounds. Her 16 rebounds is the fourth most by a Pomeroy in school history. Also in double figures for SMWC, were junior Jordyn Lloyd with 14 points, senior Na-Shaunda Rayford with 13 points and sophomore Callan Taylor with 11 points.
The Pomeroys fell behind in the first half after being outscored 25-17 and 27-19 in the first and second quarters. In the second half, SMWC came out firing and outscored UCC 25-18, however, it wouldn't be enough to jump back into the lead. UCC then expanded its nine point lead in the fourth to hand SMWC the 89-75 loss.
The Pomeroys will be back in action tomorrow when they head to #4 Berea.
