Box Score BEREA, Ky. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team fell to #4 Berea on Friday, 117-75, to move to 5-11 on the year.
Junior Tara Parmer led three Pomeroys in double figures with 25 points, while senior Na-Shaunda Rayford turned in 20 points and 10 rebounds to earn the double-double. Sophomore Callan Taylor added 11 points. Rayford, Parmer and senior Ja'Breena Gardner all recorded five assists.
The Pomeroys came out firing in the first half, keeping the contest close in the first half of the first quarter. The Pomeroys jumped out to a 13-6 lead before Berea's offense kicked into high gear and rattled off 21 points, and held SMWC to three to finish the first quarter. Heading into the second quarter, BC led the Pomeroys 27-16. From there, the Pomeroys were outscored 28-19 in the second, 31-18 in the third and 31-22 in the fourth.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on January 19 when they host Oakland City at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Arena.
