OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team moved to 4-9 on the year after falling to Oakland City on Thursday, 132-67.

Sophomore Callan Taylor led all Pomeroys in scoring with 18 points, while junior Tara Parmer scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Thursday night was Parmer's fourth double-double of the season. Freshman Mara Canada recorded 10 points and senior Bria Hill grabbed 12 rebounds. It was the second time in the last three games that Canada has scored at least 10 points and the second game in a row that Hill grabbed 12 rebounds.

The Pomeroys began to fall behind with three minutes left in the first quarter after keeping the game tight for the first seven minutes. From there, SMWC couldn't keep pace with OCU's 54.3 percent (51-of-94) shooting performance. OCU also shot 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from three-point range to hand SMWC its first loss in 2017.  

The Pomeroys will be back in action on Saturday when they host Southern State at 2 p.m. The Pomeroys are 4-0 all-time against the Patriots, and will be looking to earn a USCAA victory to get on track in the new year.
