Box Score Cincinnati, OH. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team traveled from Berea, Kentucky, to the University of Cincinnat-Clermont tonight, for a USCAA match-up at 6:00 p.m. The Pomeroys edged the Lady Cougars 87-85. SMWC has won two of their last three contests.
Game Flow
The Pomeroys (4-6 USCAA) found themselves down 21-15 at the completion of the first quarter. In the second quarter, SMWC ignited offensively and outscored the Cougars 39-to-21. The Pomeroys entered halftime with a 54-42 lead. They knocked down a total of 10 three-point baskets and shot 50.0% from the field. In third quarter, SMWC and Clermont went basket-for-basket. By the fourth quarter, the Pomeroys sat with a 12 point lead but the Cougars would not quit their fight. Clermont cut the lead 87-85 with 10 seconds left in the game and held possession of the ball. The Cougars managed to attempt a shot from beyond the arc but it would not fall. The Pomeroys won 87-85 and maintained their winning ways.
