Pomeroys Drop 5th Straight in 51-82 Loss to Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's basketball team (0-5) suffered their fifth loss of the season to the University of Rio Grande (9-7) last evening 51-82. Turnovers combined with just 31% shooting were the determining factors is the team's inability to make any noise in the game. The offense was highlighted by Sydney Ingram who recorded 20 points, followed by Delaney Kendall with 13, as the only Pomeroys with double-digit scoring. Avalee Jeffers led the team in rebounds and assists with six and two, respectively.

  • Sydney Ingram led the team in scoring for the second straight game with 20.
  • Freshman Allyson Hardiek had a solid defensive game with 6 blocks and 3 rebounds.
  • The Pomeroys struggled offensively again, shooting just 31.0% from the floor and 26.1% from 3PT range. Their 64.3% shooting from the line left points on the floor.
  • SMWC wasn't able to crash the boards as well as Rio Grande, only pulling down 35 rebounds to their 45. They also lost the turnover battle 23-19. 

University of Rio Grande

  • Rio Grande was led by Hailey Jordan who posted 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. She was followed by Caitlyn Brisker with 13 points.
  • The Red Storm were strong offensively, posting 50% shooting and managing 70% from the line.
