Men’s Basketball Defeated by RSC Leader Alice Lloyd 54-99

PIPPA PASSES, Ken. – The SMWC Men's Basketball was defeated by Alice Lloyd University (13-0) today 54-99. The RSC loss leaves SMWC at 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference. The team fought hard against a top team in the conference but couldn't manage against the undefeated Eagles. Jadyn McHugh would lead the team with 13 points while Robert DeSilvia would add 11 points and 5 rebounds.
Game Summary
 
1st Half: The Pomeroys found themselves in an early 2-8 hole before closing the gap to 17-22 midway through the half from strong play by Robert DeSilvia and Jadyn McHugh. SMWC struggled to get their 3-pointers going and ended up going just 1-6 for the half. Alice Lloyd would slowly start to pull away and going on a 10-2 run to close out the half. The Pomeroys would go into halftime down 26-44.
 
2nd Half: Missed shots, fouls, and turnovers would start to add up for SMWC. The team entered the half already with double-digit turnovers and would add two more early in the 2nd half. The Eagles would grow their lead to 29 as the Pomeroys would find themselves down 30-59 with 13 minutes remaining. SMWC would start heating up from the 3-point line as they hit three straight 3's to cut the deficit back to 20, but Alice Lloyd would respond quickly with an 8-point run to take command again. The Pomeroys fight hard until the end but Alice Lloyd would run away with this one 52-99.
By the Numbers
 
  • McHugh led the team with 13 points, followed by Robert DeSilvia with 11 and Shermar Moss with 7.
  • Ogletree would turn in another well-rounded performance, posting 6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
  • Another tough afternoon of shooting as SMWC would go just 22-60 from the floor and 4-17 from behind the arc. The team would finish the game 6-9 from the free throw line.
