Pomeroy Soccer Dominates LCU in 9-0 and 8-0 Victories

Nyanneh, Trigg, and Payne lead their teams with at least three goals each

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind.  The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's (2-1-1) and women's (3-1) soccer teams defeated Lincoln Christian University (1-5, 1-5) this afternoon in two decisive victories. The men's team led off the day with a 9-0 victory and the women followed it up with a 1-0 victory of their own. On the men's side, Austin Nyanneh would finish the day with a hat trick while Kennedy Trigg (3) and Madison Payne (4) would dominate on the women's side.

How it Happened | Men's Soccer

1st Half: The men's team got off to a fast start with a goal by Taiwo Anifowose just 48 seconds into the match. Austin Nyanneh followed it up with a goal of his own just a minute later. Back-to-back goals by Juan Parra would blow the game open and SMWC would tally three more to finish the half with an incredible 7-0 lead.

2nd Half: SMWC would begin to rest the starters but goals by Fausto Lopez-Ibarra (68') and Jose Godoy (82') would put the game further out of reach and give the men's team their most lopsided victory in program history and push their season record to 2-1-1.
 
How it Happened | Women's Soccer

1st Half: The women's team, fresh off their 7-0 victory this past Saturday, scored early with a shot by Madison Payne in the 3rd minute. She would respond again just a few minutes later with another goal in the 15th minute. Kennedy Trigg would get some very unlucky shots on goal but was able to find pay dirt in the 18th minute to increase the lead to 3-0.

2nd Half: The Pomeroys came out of the half taking shot after shot until Kennedy Trigg netted her 2nd goal of the game in the 56th minute. Trigg scored again just five minutes later, and Madison Payne would net her 4th goal of the match and the Pomeroys' 8th of the match to lead the team to an 8-0 victory.
 
What's Next?
 
Both teams will travel to Midway, Kentucky to face Midway University for 1:00 (W) and 3:30 (M) p.m. matches on Thursday, September 16th.
