MIDWAY, Ken.. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's (3-1-1) and women's (4-1) soccer teams defeated Midway University (1-5, 1-5) today to continue their string of dominant performances. The Pomeroys made a compelling statement in their first River States Conference match as they would claim 5-3 and 4-0 victories, respectively. Sophomore

How it Happened | Men's Soccer
1st Half: The men's team would struggle to get control of the ball as Midway would attack early and often. The Eagles would strike first in the 34th minute with a goal off the cross from 30 yards out.
Luis Botello netted the equalizer in the 41st minute to tie the match going into halftime.
2nd Half: Sophomore
Juan Parra was a man on a mission coming out of the half, missing just wide and hitting the cross bar on different shots until he was able to connect off a Midway deflection and give the Pomeroys the lead. Freshman
Hamza Zagmouzi would get in on the action with back-to-back goals just a minute and eight seconds apart to give SMWC a 4-1 lead with 24 minutes to play. Parra's goal in the 73rd minute would appear to blow the game wide open but Midway attempted their comback soon after. A goal just following Parra's and another in the 85th minute would close the gap at 5-3 but SMWC would begin to dominate the ball and close this one out for their third win of the season.

1st Half: The women's team got off to a fast start as they usually do, scoring their first goal in just the 5th minute when a cross by
Kennedy Trigg would set
Kaylee Lowe up from eight yard out. The Pomeroys would continue firing away with shot after shot until the 13th minute when
Kennedy Trigg would beat the Midway defense to score her 9th goal of the season and incredible 7th goal in the past five days.
Kortney Buckley and Trigg would add two more in the 31st and 35th minutes before the half to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
2nd Half: SMWC would substitute most of their starts out and play strong defense before closing out the match and moving to 4-1 on the season.

Women's soccer will travel to St. Louis to take on UHSP (1-2-1) this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET while the men's team will be back in action on Monday, September 20th when they travel to face Asbury University (1-4) at 6:00 p.m. ET.
