Saint Mary-of-the-Woods looks to stay in contention for the Midwest Sprint Football League championship on Saturday at Fontbonne.
The game will be played at Saint Louis University High School, located at 4970 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110.
The Pomeroys (4-1, 3-1 MSFL) are looking to bounce back from a 30-27 loss to first-place Calumet College of St. Joseph last Saturday.
CCSJ can secure a spot in the MSFL title game with a win at home against Bellarmine Saturday. A CCSJ win combined with an SMWC victory would set those two teams up to play for the title in a third meeting of the season.
An SMWC victory and a Bellarmine victory over CCSJ would create a 3-way tie atop the standings.
The tiebreaker in that scenario would be defensive points allowed in conference games. (The season-opening win for SMWC at CCSJ was a nonconference game.).
SMWC has allowed 69 points in conference games.
Calumet has allowed 40 points in MSFL games.
Bellarmine has allowed 70 points in conference games.
So, the ideal scenario for SMWC is to win and allow as few points as possible just in case Bellarmine wins and limits Calumet College of St. Joseph to a low point total.

A look at Saturday's opponent:

  • Fontbonne has allowed just 141.8 passing yards per game this season.
  • Chris Reckel leads the Fontbone passing attack with 414 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Darrion White leads the Griffins with 260 yards on 55 carries.
  • Fontbonne lost last week to Quincy by a score of 35-6.

A Look at SMWC:

  • The Pomeroys suffered its first loss last weekend falling to Calumet, 30-27.
  • SMWC currently leads the MSFL putting up 32.6 points per game and totaling 23 touchdowns.
  • Brennon Landry at quarterback has thrown for 10 touchdowns and 1,045 yards to lead the conference in both stats.
  • Runnning back Patrick Perea leads the receiving core with 15 catches for 257 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Jaheem Joseph has a team-high four touchdowns, to go along with his 230 yards on 12 catches.
  • Devron Johnson (164) and Carlos Munoz (158).
  • On the ground, Perea has 107 carries for 395 yards and four touchdowns.
  • Defensively, the Pomeroys allow 19.4 points per game and 285.6 yards per game.
  • They lead the MSFL with 14 sacks.
  • Monte' May has a team-high 46 tackles, while Trey Jackson has 41 tackles and three sacks.
