Avalee Jeffers had 14 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals, and Brooklynn Jones led Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with 16 points in a 78-71 victory Tuesday against Cincinnati Clermont on Tuesday at Hamilton Arena.
Freshman Abbi Parker added 12 points and four steals as the Pomeroys had a season-high 19 steals while staying unbeaten at home (3-0).
The Pomeroys (5-1) shot 58 percent in the third quarter to extend a 44-28 halftime lead to as large as 63-37. Destiny Thomas connected on two field goals and Sydney Ingram connected on a 3-pointer during a 9-0 run over a 2-minute, 15-second stretch late in the period.
Clermont hit 8 of 11 from the field in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 74-66 with 2:56 remaining.
The Pomeroys led from the opening tip. Jones hit all four of her first-quarter shot attempts to post eight points in the game's first 2:42.
SMWC built a 14-2 lead by the 6:25 mark of the first quarter when Parker came up with a steal and layup.
Jeffers had six offensive rebounds, helping key the Pomeroys to 18 second-chance points.
