The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Pomeroys welcomed the Eagles of Midway University to Hamilton Arena for River States Conference basketball action. The Pomeroys came into the matchup 6-1 on the year and 1-1 in RSC play. Midway came in at 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in RSC play.
The Pomeroys opened the contest on an 11-0 run before Midway would call a timeout to slow down the Pomeroys' momentum. That would work and with the help of strong full court pressure almost every time the Pomeroys brought the ball up the court they would go on a 21-5 run that ran through the first three minutes of the second quarter.
The Eagles would keep applying the pressure and never look back as they would outscore the Pomeroys 77-33 over three and a half quarters to defeat the Pomeroys 77-44. This loss drops the Pomeroys to 6-2 overall on the season and 1-2 in RSC play.
Brooklynn Jones was the team's leading scorer with 14 points while collecting nine rebounds.
Abby Worley scored six points while also getting six rebounds and four assists.
Madison White scored six points off the bench.
The Pomeroys will have a week off to rest before traveling to Oakland City, who are currently receiving votes in the NAIA National Rankings, to face the Mighty Oaks on Dec 10 with tipoff scheduled for 1:00 pm ET.
