NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The SMWC Women's Basketball team (11-10, 5-9) were narrowly defeated by IU-Southeast 48-52 in a tough battle right down to the end. The teams were tied at 45-45 with just under 4 minutes left to play, but a 6-0 run by IU-SE gave them a six-point lead with 23-seconds left to play. The team would cut the deficit to four but three straight missed layups by SMWC couldn't cut it any closer. A late foul gave the Grenadiers a four point lead with three seconds left and they would escape with the win.
By The Numbers
- Sydney Ingram led with 11 points, followed by Avalee Jeffers with 9 and Destiny Thomas with 7
- Allyson Hardiek and Jeffers both pulled down double-digit rebounds with 12 and 10, respectively.
- The team shot just 29.7% on the night and 30.8% from deep. Their 46.2% shooting at the line might have been a difference-maker.
