SMWC finished the regular-season on a high note as sophomore
Raelee Everhart's 63rd-minute goal gave the Pomeroys a Senior Day victory.
"I couldn't be more happy because I love all of them like a sister and they deserve a win on their big day," Everhart said of seniors
Kaylee Thaler,
Luka Popoff, Abby Scott,
Micaela Moore,
Lauren Keith and
Kortney Buckley.
Thaler delivered a clean slate in goal with three saves.
Everhart's fifth goal was her fifth of the season and second straight match with a goal.
Claire Donald picked up the assist.
"We evolved as a team to work it down the field and gain a corner out of it," Everhart said. "Once Ken (
Kennedy Trigg) hit a perfect corner, it came right to Claire as she took a shot. Thanks to Claire's powerful shot, it bounced out of the keeper's hands, where I finished it into the net."
The Pomeroys improved to 5-6-5 overall and 4-3-3 in the RSC, clinching the No. 6 seed in the RSC Tournament.
SMWC will visit No. 3-seed Rio Grande on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the RSC Quarterfinals.
