Jeremiah Tosky hadn't lined up under center for two years when he arrived at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods campus in August for preseason training camp.
The Pomeroys' quarterback stayed close to home, attending the University of Texas El Paso the past two years after playing QB at Andress High School in El Paso.
"I just really wanted a shot at playing football again. Coach Blaine gave me a chance and I took it," Tosky said.
Tosky is thriving as a Pomeroy. He leads the Midwest Sprint Football League best 1,534 yards and 16 touchdowns, completing 57 percent of his passes.
Tosky credits the play calling and his talented group of receivers. Devron Johnson, Corbyn Cleveland, tight end Carlos Munoz Jr. and Calvin Jasey have excelled as pass catchers.
"We've just got a lot of playmakers on this team. We've just got to put the ball on their hands and let them work," Tosky said.
Coach Blaine Powell is glad to have him, obviously.
"He's very communicative and that's what you always want in the recruiting process. He's done a great job with everything we've asked him to do," Powell said.
Tosky has gotten more and more comfortable as the season has progressed.
"When you're coaching him up in practice, you don't just get a yes sir and it goes in one ear and out the other. He actually learns. He processes things quickly. He came in with a great attitude and still has a great attitude," Powell said.
