Game notes

SMWC has put together what coach Blaine Powell has described as an overall better performance this fall than last year's exceptional 2022 championship season.
But the Pomeroys have one more win to finish the job to win a Midwest Sprint Football League championship. The same team as last year stands in the way.
SMWC heads into the MSFL championship game with the league's most potent passing attack, and a rushing attack that both keeps the chains moving and has big-play explosiveness as well.
While the Crimson Wave don't bring an offense to town that has produced like the Pomeroys, they do bring a stout defense.
CCSJ leads the MSFL in points allowed (12.9 ppg), yards allowed (193.3 p/g) and turnovers forced (27). SMWC is second in each of those three at (14.9 ppg), yards allowed (226.6 p/g) and turnovers forced (23).
Josh Wence leads SMWC's defense in tackles (41) and is third in tackles-for-loss (5.5). Di'Lon Harvey is second in tackles with 37 in five games and leads SMWC with 16 TFLs and 6.5 sacks.

BALL HAWKS
After Carter McKee's second interception of the season last week vs. Quincy, the Pomeroys are up to 17 this season, which leads the MSFL.
Safety Austin Petrillo, cornerback Jordan Foster and safety Kerry Lacey lead the Pomeroys with three apiece. McKee and Josh Wence have two apiece.
Calumet College is second best in the league with 15 and Quindarius Davis has a league-best six.

THIRD-DOWN EFFICIENCY
SMWC leads the MSFL in third-down conversions with 45 on 104 attempts (43 percent). The Pomeroys also lead the league in first downs with 161 (82 rushing, 79 passing).

BIG PLAY THREATS
While the Pomeroys are the best in the league at putting together long, deliberate drives, SMWC offers a myriad of players capable of putting up big plays.
While Derron Hazzard's 51-yard TD run continued to show off his big-play ability, the longest run of the season for the Pomeroys was by Patrick Perea, a 53-yarder vs. Bellarmine. Keandre Jones' long this season for 49 yards.
Quarterback Jeremiah Tosky has also set up some big plays in the passing game. MSFL receiving leader Devron Johnson's season-long reception is for 79 yards.
Corbyn Cleveland caught a 48-yarder last week vs. Quincy and Derron Hazzard also had his season-long reception of 47 yards last week.
