The SMWC women's basketball team had 22 steals, the most for a single game since 2020, and put four players in double-figure scoring on its way to a 80-37 victory against Judson University on Saturday inside Knoerle Center.
The defensive effort for SMWC was dominant.
The Pomeroys had 12 first-half steals to jump out to a 43-16 lead by halftime.
Brooklynn Jones had eight points as the Pomeroys jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the first five minutes.
Jones had a team-high 22 points and her six steals matched the most by a Pomeroy in a single game over the past three seasons.
Abby Worley added five steals and nine assists, one shy of her career-high.
Madison Fueger added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Destiny Thomas scored 11 and
Samara Douglas chipped in 10 points, two blocks and a steal.
In the second quarter, Judson pulled within five, 21-16, before the Pomeroys went on a 21-0 run over the last seven minutes of the half. Fueger had 11 straight points during that dominant spurt.
The Pomeroys' defense continued in the third quarter, holding Judson scoreless the first 3 1/2 minutes of the period as the lead grew to 49-16.
The Pomeroys return to action Nov. 28 at home against University of the Cumberlands.
