The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods softball team extended its winning streak to 11 games Thursday with 3-1 and 13-1 victories against Alice Lloyd College.
The Pomeroys (27-13, 13-7 River States Conference) put together two strong performances at the SMWC Softball Field in windy conditions. Freshman
Lanna Martinez (11-4) struck out 11 in the opener and
Summer Rocha (8-7) scattered four hits in a five-inning win in the nightcap.

Abbi Henderson got the scoring started in the third when she stole second and third base before racing home on a wild pitch.
In the 5
th,
Tori Lee got a little help from the wind gusts to collect a two-RBI double in the fifth to score
Camryn Scott and
Emily Singleton, who both singled.
That was all Martinez needed. The freshman has allowed just one earned run and 12 hits in her last four outings, a span of 20 innings with four wins.

GAME 2
The Pomeroys' offense got rolling in the second game led by nine runs and 10 hits in the second inning.
Jaselyn Conn, who went 2 for 3, drove in the first run with a single to left field.
Katrina Strow and
Abbi Henderson added RBI singles then Scott hit a two-run double.
Jaleigh Crawford and
Mikayla Mills also had RBI singles in the big inning.
The Pomeroys added three in the fourth, taking advantage of an error and two wild pitches.
SMWC stole nine bases in the game to extend its NAIA-leading total to 161 stolen bases.
Rocha struck out three and walked three.
SMWC returns to action at home Friday against Ohio Christian in another RSC doubleheader at 3 p.m.
