MIDWAY, Ky. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team improved to 26-3 on the season with its ninth consecutive victory, a 25-27, 25-16, 25-13, 25-18 victory over Midway University on Friday night.
Karla Melendez led the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods offense with 15 kills.
Madison Hill contributed 8 kills, and
Sofia Soto added 6 kills to lead the Pomeroy offense.
Alexis Keoho had a team-high 22 assists, with
Aden Britt adding 17 assists and 9 digs.
Jocelyn Chavez led SMWC with 12 digs. Serving wise,
Grace Geisler had a team-high 4 service aces and
Leishmarie Virella added 3 aces.
The strong front line blocking attack included
Isabel Hansen with a team-high 6 blocks, and Hill added 4 total blocks.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods stands 5-3 in conference play and improved to 8-0 overall in the month of October. Midway dropped to 9-9 overall and 4-5 in league matches with the loss. The Pomeroys travel to IU Southeast on Saturday at noon in another River States Conference matchup.
