CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys led from start to finish en route to a neutral court victory over East-West University (Ill.) in the opener of the Moody Archer Classic on Friday evening (Nov. 15).
It was the fourth consecutive victory for SMWC while EWU fell to 0-7. The Pomeroys improved to 4-2 on the season.
Shon Tupuola had another solid outing as he scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the victory. He hit 7-of-8 shots from the field as well as 3-of-4 free throw attempts.
Taeron Hogg posted 14 points for SMWC including a pair of 3-pointers.
Caleb Iheukwu finished with 11 points and three assists in the victory.
SMWC hit 24-of-48 shots in the game (50 percent), including five shots from distance. The Woods scored 36 points off the bench. The Pomeroys owned a 40-20 edge in the rebounding battle.
It will be short rest for the Pomeroys as they take on host Moody Bible College on Saturday, November 16 at 3 pm (CT) in the final game of the Moody Archer Classic.
