CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball team won for the fifth consecutive game with a 106-68 win on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16) over Moody Bible College to win the Moody Archer Classic.

The Pomeroys improved to 5-2 on the season while Moody fell to 2-5.

Shon Tupuola led the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. He hit 9-of-11 shots from the field and added a blocked shot. Jared Bonds hit 6-of-9 shots from the field including a 3-pointer to post 15 points. Taray Howell continued his strong start to the season with 12 points and five rebounds while Caleb Iheukwu posted 10 points. 

The Pomeroys lit up the nets for a 60.8 percent mark from the field and connected on a total of five 3-pointers. They limited Moody to just 38.4 percent shooting in the contest. SMWC got off to a hot start as they led 56-34 at the half.

SMWC will play their first home game of the season when they host Judson (Ill.) on Saturday, November 23 at 1 p.m. (ET) inside the Knoerle Center.  Read Full Article
