FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men's volleyball team dropped the first two sets against No. 15 nationally-ranked Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon before leading most of the way in the decisive third set before eventually falling to the Warriors by the score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 27-25).
Manease Fetulimoeata led the way for the Pomeroys with 14 kills while
Yammiel Martinez tallied seven. Martinez used an accurate attack in the contest as he posted a tremendous hitting percentage of .583.
Connor Orrock was credited with a match-high 13 assists while
Brycen Yadao tallied a pair of service aces.
Joey Anderson had a solo block in the contest.
In the third set, The Woods scored the first five points capped by a Martinez kill. A
Julian Green kill staked the Pomeroys to a 17-14 advantage but the Warriors countered with four rallies in a row before Anderson recorded a kill to level the tally at 18. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods would benefit from a Warriors service error to take a 24-23 lead, but the Warriors would level the score at 25. They went on to score the final two points of the match to win the third set 27-25.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods fell to 11-7, 2-5 WHAC while Indiana Tech improved to 14-1, 5-1 WHAC.
The Pomeroys are back in action against Indiana Tech on Saturday, March 9 at 3 p.m. (ET) in Fort Wayne.
