SMWC Men's Soccer Drops Road Match At St. Francis (Ind.)

Sweep Doubleheader Against Kentucky State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer fell at the University of St. Francis (IN) by the score of 5-1 on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 14).

The Pomeroys fell to 2-5 on the season while St. Francis improved to 5-3.

USF broke through in the 16th minute before the Pomeroys leveled the score at 1 with a goal in the 45th minute off the foot of Lucas Diaz right after the halftime break to knot the score at 1. But USF countered with four later goals in the second half including a pair in the final 10 minutes for the 5-1 victory.

The Woods owned six shots in the game including a total of three on frame as Diaz owned one with the goal. Ivan Gelado and Marwan Jamoussi added the others.

Harry Jackson posted five saves in the contest.

It will be a two-week lay-off for SMWC as they don't play again until the River States Conference opener against Oakland City on Saturday, September 28 at 3:30 p.m. (ET) at the SMWC Soccer Complex.
