SMWC Men's Soccer Drops RSC Opener Against Oakland City

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer team fell to visiting Oakland City on Saturday afternoon by the score of 2-0 in a game that was played on the campus of Rose-Hulman due to the heavy rains in the area over the last 48 hours.

SMWC fell to 2-6, 0-1 RSC on the season while Oakland City improved to 4-3-2, 1-0 RSC.

Oakland City opened the scoring with a goal in the 18th minute and was the recipient of an own goal in the 82nd minute to record the 2-0 victory over the Pomeroys.

SMWC was unable to record a shot on goal in the match, but did muster a total of nine shots in the contest. Jamie Gayol recorded three shots in the game to lead the Pomeroys.

In goal, Harry Jackson recorded four saves in playing 90 minutes inside the frame.

The Pomeroys will return to the same field on Tuesday, October 1 when they return to Rose-Hulman to play the Fighting Engineers on their home turf at 7 p.m. (ET).
