SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's soccer team owned the edge against visiting Harris-Stowe in shots on Tuesday (Sept. 17) afternoon at the SMWC Softball Complex but could not breakthrough as the Hornets walked away with a 1-0 victory.
SMWC fell to 1-3-1 on the season while Harris-Stowe improved to 3-3-1.
The Woods owned a 14-12 edge in shots including a total of five shots on goal but were not able to reach the back of the net in the contest. The Pomeroys also owned a 6-2 edge in corner kicks in the contest.
The lone goal of the game came off the leg of Harris Stowe's Katharina Salomon in the 31st minute for the 1-0 lead.
Lois Carr paced the Pomeroys with a pair of shots both of which were on frame.
Kennedy Trigg,
Kaylee Lowe and
Roxie Foerg also put a shot on frame for SMWC.
Yajaira Jiminez tallied seven saves in the contest allowing just the one goal in the full 90 minutes of action.
The season-long five match home stand continues on Saturday, September 21 when the Pomeroys will host Great Lakes Christian College at 1 p.m. (ET) at the SMWC Soccer Complex.
